Another Naritasan, Naritasan Park

You may have visited Naritasan Shinshoji Temple which is one of the most popular temples in Japan. Since it is in 30 minute distance from Narita Airport by train & walk, you can easily visit this temple if you stay in Narita area.

What I would like to introduce you in this time is not the temple itself but "Naritasan Park" in its grounds. This is a large park where visitors can enjoy flowers of all seasons, such as plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, etc. It is located on the right hand side of the Great Main Hall of the temple. There are waterfalls, big ponds and tree-shaded walkways. You can enjoy walking in the green forest.

Yuhi-no-Taki Falls in the park.

Ryuchi-no-Ike Pond in the park

If you are interested in Japanese haiku poems, you will find stone tablets inscribed with haiku poems by renowned poets, such as Matsuo Basho and Takahama Kyoshi.

I would like you to visit this park if you have free time in Narita.

If you would like to visit the temple and its related buildings, I would recommend you to go with a guide. There are several historic buildings, but it may be difficult to understand each deeply only by the information board or a guide map.

Since I am offering 3-hour tour to Naritasan Temple, please take a look at the below website if you are interested in it.

I spent 3 days with Nobu and he was wonderful. He picked me up outside my Airbnb, had a great itinerary (I had no idea really what I wanted to do in Japan) and I learned some great things from him during our travels through Tokyo, Mt Fuji, and Kamakura. He speaks English well and is very knowledgable! I would recommend him to anyone!! Thanks Nobu! Andrew

We booked Nobu for a 1 day private tour of the Oku Nikko area, it was my family of 4 (2 young boys, my husband and I). Prior to the trip, or when booking, Nobu was excellent! He was responsive to my messages, addressed my concerns, seemed very knowledgeable about things. He was very on it, which is why we booked him. (His pre-trip attitude is what brings Nobu up to 3 stars) However, on the day ...

“ Beautiful Mt. Fuji ”

Excellent

We were able to see Mt Fuji without clouds on the way up, but by the time we arrived at the bus station, it was starting to get cloudy. Still, a wonderful sight to see, even with clouds. Nobu found a place for us to take a picture in front of Mt Fuji with almost no people around, a little known spot. Great. The only down side was taking the tour on Sunday of a three day national holiday. Traffic w...

Nobu met us at our hotel at the time previously arranged. He was very courteous and very obliging. We walked to different parts of the city and he was very knowledgeable about the area. He showed us how to use the train system. We walked for nearly 4 hours. Highly recommend Nobu and the tour.

“ customized experience, a trip down memory lane ”

Excellent
1 month ago Traveler: Susan -   Tour Guide: Nobu

Nobu took me off the typical tourist track, as I searched for memories of where I lived in 1965. He negotiated the trains and buses from Tokyo to Zushi to Hayama. In Hayama, we walked, I remembered, and he talked with and questioned locals. He engaged with a local lady of my age who verified that I had found the house I lived in. She and I used the same beauty shop 50+ years ago. I don't know how ...

Nobu, a talented guide. Full responsibility and leadership. He organized our trip together perfectly even tough we have missed Mt. Fuji because of the nature rain and taifun in Osaka during our visit but overall our tour in Japan with Nobu make everyone in the group happy. Thank you for Nobu.

First of all my wife, 12 year old an myself had a great day with Nobu visiting Mt. Fuji and the surrounding areal. Nobu knew the area and was flexible. He did a great job arranging transportation and made us feel comfortable. Some suggestions however that could have made the trip even more enjoyable. Food: Being flexible is very important but also having some go to lunch and snack places in mind i...
