Ads Everywhere in Japan

If there is one thing noticeable in Japan, it is that it's covered up in advertisements, most especially print ads. Seeing ads inside trains, buses, and malls are nothing special. But seeing the huge amount of print advertisements in these places is what made it extra-ordinary.

But wait! If you thought these ads are just found in buses and trains, then you are wrong. Taxis also have huge boards inside them that more or less advertise a certain thing. Billboards, elevators, escalators, a flight of stairs, rental bicycles, vending machines, give-away pocket tissue papers, pavements, subways... name it, it has an ad on it. You will also encounter an area particularly in subways where magazines and other reading materials are free for grabs. We call this "free papers" and they are available mostly in public places such as train stations.

My girlfriend and I spent a full day touring Kyoto with Hiro Inoue in May 2019. Hiro was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. During our tour, we visited the Fushimi Inari Shrine, Nishiki Market and Ryoan-ji Temple. We had independently purchased tickets for a private tea ceremony for the same day as our tour and Hiro escorted us to ceremony location (Which was a 40 minute bus ride) and st...

Chisato-san was very flexible with how we use the day. She met us at Kyoto in order to drive our rented car (where she also need to be registered with the car rental company for insurance coverage). We had a perfect introduction to Kyoto with Masaki (Makoon) Mori as our guide. He was friendly, enthusiastic, and very considerate of us and others. His extensive knowledge of Japanese history and culture helped us get a lot more out of our visits to the various sites than we would have if we had been on our own. Makoon helped us with much more than just the tour itself. He recommended restaurants...
